THE ADAM PORT ILLUSTRATION STORY
Adam Port, a self taught artist from a suburb of New York City, has
developed an innovative style of realist artwork. He is gaining great
accolades with an array of industries looking for new techniques of artistic
expression. Artists Chuck Close and Norman Rockwell and illustrator Drew
Struzan have influenced and helped Adam develop a realist style of his own
using photo references for each illustration to capture authenticity in all
paintings.
Adam's love of sports inspired him to build a strong portfolio of sports
related paintings and in 1999 Adam signed a licensing agreement with NBA
Entertainment. Orginal Adam Port illustrations are now available at the NBA
store in Manhattan.
From there he has gained visibility within the music, television and film
industries. Today, Adam works with sports figures, music artists, and
entertainment stars creating original illustrations for promotional
materials and handling personal commissions.
Each authentic piece of artwork consists of multiple images of the subject.
Artwork sizes can rage from poster size to mural size and are accomplished
between 75-100 hours. Adam uses acrylic paints and colored pencils on
gessoed illustration boards to depict the realism in the photographs and
then incorporates them with his creative and original visions.
Adam attended Syracuse University's prestigious School of Visual and
Performing arts where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts.
